BUYERS GUIDE

JT LIVESTOCK LLC. Kill pen & Auction horses

  • BY PURCHASING A HORSE from JT LIVESTOCK CO, (Tara Sanders / Jacob Thompson) YOU AGREE TO OUR BUYERS GUIDE, and our TERMS AND CONDITIONS.
  • We are a Bonded & Insured Livestock Dealer, approved with Packers and Stockyards.
  • We are located in Healdton Oklahoma, at 4553 Texas St Healdton Ok, 73438.
  • We volume buy and sell livestock all over the US and Canada, we have Quality Horses, at whole sale prices.
  • We do offer all slaughter bound horses to the public before shipping to slaughter. These horses are often marked urgent and have a ship date, so you recognize their timeline of availability. We unfortunately cannot keep them indefinitely, due to the expense of their care. If you see a Slaughter bound horse ready to ship (that you can't purchase, but want to help) you can pay $150.00, they can be available another week to 10 days because you are covering the expense of their care, and we are allowing our operating capital to be tied up an additional week, we all hope they can find a great loving home.
  • We do own and offer horses that are NOT for slaughter, these horses have no chance of shipping to slaughter and will not be urgent or have ship dates. These horses are either here on consignment, they’re privately owned, or they’re horses our brokerage bought to evaluate and resell.
  • Vet checks are welcomed at your expense; we ask that you find a vet that can travel to our facility. We however will not hold a horse for PPE, so they are subject to sell prior to your vet check being done, unless you pay a 10% non refundable deposit which will hold the horse 5 business days for a vet check. If you cannot find a vet to travel to us quick enough, we can arrange transport for you to a vet within a reasonable distance at the rate of $3.00 A LOADED MILE, as well as a $100 handling fee. We ask that you have the horse paid for in full within 24 hours of the vet check, or we retain the right to relist the horse at full price.
  • WE OFFER NO REFUNDS, NO EXCHANGES, AND NO WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. You are buying livestock as is with no guarantee, nothing said or written is any form of a guarantee, and if you’re spending more than you can afford to gamble please take necessary steps to protect your investment such as a pre purchase exam, come evaluate the horse in person for yourself, and should you make a purchase please consider getting mortality and loss of use coverage with an equine insurance broker.
  • If you purchase a horse, board starts the day you make your purchase and it includes the day you pick up. If for any reason you fall 60 days behind on your board, we retain the right to resell your horse at full price with no refund to you. Please make sure you pay your board.
  • Pick up - please make an appointment at least 48 hours in advance so that we can have someone available to meet your hauler. During our business hours Monday - Friday 9am - 6 pm pick up is FREE. After hours and weekends we will have to hire someone to load out horses, and they charge $50 per horse.
  • Your board must be paid in full, before we will allow transportation to load your horse.
  • If you live out of state, you’re required by law to have a veterinarian out to write a health certificate for your horse before it can travel, this is responsibility of the buyer. We suggest that you have a new coggins pulled at this time as well. We also recommend that you have a shot of exceed left to administer prior to transport to help prevent shipping fever.

What you need to know...

  • All Livestock is sold as is with no guarantee. We try to do an excellent job of evaluating each horse.  Evaluations of all livestock are done by me, and my staff as a courtesy to our customers. We want to try to match the horses with the right rider, so that this works for both their needs and yours. We are hopefully that we can find an appropriate home for their level of training and needs.  All evaluations are subject to human error. We will pass along any information given at the sale barn, or from the previous seller in our original evaluation, but from that point forward we do base everything else off our findings at my facility. Sometimes after the initial evaluation we find the age, or training originally passed on with the horse to be incorrect, and we will change those details not to confuse you, but we want to base our sell of each animal off our firsthand knowledge and not "hear say" .

  • Please remember all livestock that have been through public auction may have been exposed to bacterial, viral, parasite, and/or fungal. Quarantine maybe necessary if you're boarding in a public place, or own other livestock. Please discuss this with your barn manager, and feel free to have them contact Tara Directly at 318-335-8720, to discuss what your horse will need prior to arriving.

  • I want to reiterate when we buy livestock at public auction, I want to make sure you understand that we have no way to guarantee that the stories or history that we've been told to have any truth. I am going to repeat, and disclosed history for each horse, but I do not guarantee that what I am passing on to be truthful or any guarantee. I will from that first evaluation gather as much firsthand knowledge as I can about a horse, the longer I have them the more I can tell you, but the price also does get higher as we have time and effort into them.

  • What I recommend is you watch the VIDEO of each horse and BUY WHAT IS IN THE VIDEO, NOT THE HISTORY.  As you watch each the evaluation videos of the livestock that we've made for you, remember these are done LIVE without any edit.  Please make sure what you see is what you are wanting and not basing your purchase off of "history" as we have no way to guarantee their history.

  • We will provide current photos and videos, so you should have more than enough to base a solid opinion on. We highly recommend that you do watch the videos, and please feel free to call Tara when you are ready to buy as she knows the horses best and certainly help you find the right horse for your needs.

Boarding...

All livestock are boarded at our facility starting the day you purchase. It's $25 a day storage charge until pick up. Board starts the day you make a deposit or pay in full and ends the day you pick up.  The first day payment is made, and the day of pick up are included in your board.

Under no circumstances is board to be waived unless you have a written and signed contract with Tara that states your board was waived. Unless that is present upon pick up you will be expected to pay $25 a day board with no discounted rate.

Board does not include any supplements, medication, or treats. You can purchase those, and we can accommodate giving them while boarded here.

Risk VS REWARD

When purchasing livestock from a broker you understand the risk associated with buying livestock privately o

Kill Pen horses that are bought often have little to no truthful information about their history.

We will not be able to provide you with any history other than what comes with them from the sale barn.

These horses are often stressed, and THEY WILL LOOSE WEIGHT.  You will need to assess them once home for ulcers, sickness, under lying conditions, and behavioral issues.

We do our best to give you an assessment of the horse's demeanor, however horses can change once the environment changes. Some settle down and become more docile, and some get fat and sassy.

The reward to saving a  life is totally worth the risk, associated with kill pen horses. But, please be realistic regarding live animals that we  have limited truthful history of, that are exposed to sickness, and are stressed. The can loose weight standing depressed, and this isn't neglect on our part. They can get injured. They can be difficult to load, and handle when they are stressed. All of this can be addressed and fixed once they're removed from the kill pen and taken to quarantine or your horse to decompress.

PLEASE BE REALISTIC AND KIND WHEN SAVING A LIFE, DO NOT BE RUDE OR JUDGEMENTAL. That behavior is really a waste of time and energy.
